I’m Jess Basso, an Italian/Aussie pattern designer and illustrator living on a leafy chestnut tree farm in sunny Andalucía, Spain.

With a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, I spent over 10 years designing gardens and landscapes, a journey that deepened my love for design and the creative process of shaping beautiful spaces. Over time, I discovered that what truly lights me up is the imaginative side of design, dreaming up ideas, playing with colour and form, and bringing joyful visions to life. This love for creativity naturally led me to embrace drawing and illustration, allowing me to explore art with the same curiosity and excitement that has always guided my design work.

And from there, Millefolia Design was born.

Millefolia is a botanical term meaning “a thousand leaves,” and to me, it symbolises infinite possibilities, just like the creative process itself.

At Millefolia, I create patterns and illustrations rooted in my love for nature, colour, and storytelling. I enjoy exploring different formats, from digital illustration to watercolour painting, allowing each project to find its own voice and texture. You’ll find bold floral prints brimming with colour, softer floral medleys for light-filled spaces, playful food and fruit patterns, and illustrations that capture seasonal moments on the farm and beyond.

Whether it’s a vibrant pattern for fabric, a subtle repeat for wallpaper, or a whimsical illustration that brings a smile, each piece is created with the intention of adding beauty and joy to everyday life. I love the freedom of moving between styles and mediums, letting curiosity guide me while staying true to a world of colour, pattern, and the small details that make life feel special.
